Someone Eric Reiss set up this lovely “Mentoring Booth” at the IA Summit. I needed a place to sit down to work on some laptop stuff — and I figured making a bit of a spectacle of myself wouldn’t be so bad — so I sat down behind the desk and started typing away.
Over the next hour and a half, a half dozen different people actually sat down to talk to me, each of them under a half-joking pretext of asking for advice. And I did my best to play my role, dispensing my diagnoses and prescriptions as well as I could. Inevitably I learned as much (probably more) from my “patients” as they did from me.
I also had my photo taken about a hundred times.

Thanks for the advice!
Chris, I’m not sure you look like a good Lucy 🙂
Thanks for the advice, Chris. I tried that trick with the donuts and the vasoline and it really works!
I’m so pleased you liked the booth! And thanks for the mention. But to give credit where credit is due, I merely came up with the idea; the booth itself was built by Stacy Surla and her sister.
