| inside the royal palace there's an eerie room called the "judges chamber". it is covered floor to cieling in white marble relief sculptures. on one side there are benches, on the other side there are windows facing the dam square. this is where prisoners were taken to be formally sentenced to die. the jury would sit on the benches and look at the prisoner when they would pass their sentence, with a jeering crowd visible outside the windows helping them to make their decision. |
